A long-established commercial general contractor has launched a dedicated healthcare construction division and is hiring a Healthcare Preconstruction Manager based in Tucson. This is a senior seat on a new team, leading preconstruction for healthcare work across Southern Arizona while partnering with division leadership in Boise.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead preconstruction for healthcare projects, including ambulatory surgery centers, medical office buildings, urgent care and outpatient clinics, imaging and infusion centers, and renovations in occupied hospitals
- Develop conceptual, schematic, DD and CD estimates and carry projects through GMP development and buyout
- Partner with owners, architects and engineers early in design on budgets, value engineering and constructability reviews
- Run MEP-heavy cost reviews covering medical gas, HVAC and pressurization, imaging shielding and specialty systems
- Build ICRA, ILSM and phasing requirements into estimates and schedules for work in active healthcare environments
- Support CMAR, design-build and IPD pursuits, including healthcare projects delivered for tribal communities
- Develop healthcare subcontractor and trade partner relationships and track market pricing and escalation
- Serve as the lead preconstruction resource for Southern Arizona healthcare pursuits, coordinating with division leadership in Boise
What We’re Looking For:
- 8+ years of commercial preconstruction or estimating experience, with a significant portfolio of healthcare projects
- Hands-on experience estimating ASCs, MOBs, clinics or hospital renovations from conceptual through GMP
- Working knowledge of FGI Guidelines, ICRA/ILSM, NFPA 99/101 and state healthcare licensing requirements
- Strong MEP estimating knowledge; medical gas, imaging and surgical suite experience preferred
- Experience with CMAR and design-build delivery; IPD experience a plus
- Proficiency with estimating and takeoff tools such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, WinEst or similar
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field preferred; CPE or ASHE CHC a plus
- Knowledge of the Tucson and Southern Arizona healthcare and subcontractor market preferred
- Willingness to travel periodically to Phoenix and Boise
