We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Construction Superintendent to lead complex construction projects in active hospital facilities. This role involves overseeing technical equipment replacement, infrastructure upgrades, and maintaining stringent safety and infection control protocols in medical environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the replacement and installation of specialized equipment such as air handlers, chillers, MRI, and CT units within active patient care areas.
- Supervise mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems work, including preparation of rooms, conduits, infrastructure, and shielding for conduit systems.
- Plan and execute roof replacements over active clean rooms, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Review and interpret highly technical drawings, including detailed point-to-point schematics for conduits, pull boxes, and other intricate infrastructure.
- Lead tenant improvement projects in functioning hospital environments, ensuring compliance with Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) and construction containment standards.
- Oversee clean room retrofits, including the establishment of Class IV containment and negative air flow systems.
- Coordinate work around critical medical departments such as operating rooms, urology, and orthopedics, ensuring uninterrupted patient care.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience working in and around active medical facilities with ongoing patient care.
- Familiarity with clean rooms, containment standards, and infection protection protocols.
- Experience with ICRA compliance and constructing barriers with negative air flow.
- Ability to manage technically complex projects, including MEP systems and highly specialized medical equipment installations.
- Exceptional organizational and planning skills to minimize disruption in sensitive environments.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with a focus on safety and quality control.
Preferred Experience:
- Hands-on experience with clean room classifications and retrofitting active clean rooms.
- Background in tenant improvement work with a significant emphasis on technical specifications.
- Experience working around specialized medical departments and managing construction in high-stakes environments.
