Job Title: Building Engineer – Roving
Location: Greater Phoenix, AZ
Compensation: $32 – $34 / hour + OT + Mileage Reimbursement
Schedule: Full-Time | On-Call Rotation May Include Evenings, Weekends & Holidays
About the Role:
We are looking for a hands-on Roving Building Engineer to join our team and provide essential building operations and maintenance support across 36 commercial and industrial properties throughout the Greater Phoenix area. This is a mobile role—you'll start your day from home, travel to property locations as needed, and manage work orders through a mobile system on your phone. As part of the Engineering team, you will work a stable daytime work schedule and participate in an on-call rotation for periodic emergency needs. You will join a dedicated property management team. All properties are company owned and self-managed.
This role requires experience with rooftop and interior HVAC units (no chillers or cooling towers) and warehouse evaporative coolers (EVAPs), along with general building maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Troubleshoot and repair rooftop and interior HVAC units and warehouse EVAPs
- Inspect and maintain building systems such as lighting, fire alarms, and general infrastructure
- Coordinate with and oversee third-party contractors (landscaping, janitorial, HVAC, plumbing, etc.)
- Complete inspections and maintenance logs; estimate time/materials and procure supplies as needed
- Support energy management efforts to reduce operating costs
- Maintain compliance with safety and building operation standards
- Provide excellent service to tenants, vendors, and internal team members
What You’ll Bring:
- 2–3 years’ experience in commercial building maintenance (industrial/office preferred)
- HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance experience (rooftop units, EVAPs)
- Strong working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, roofing, etc.
- Proficiency with mobile work order systems, basic Microsoft Office skills
- EPA Universal Certification (preferred or in progress)
- Valid Arizona driver’s license and reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursed at IRS rate)
- High school diploma or GED required; trade school training a plus
- Ability to lift 45+ lbs., climb ladders, and perform physical duties as needed
